Khuzestan

Khuzestan , the center of Iran's oil and gas production. Khuzestan province is one of the oldest lands of human civilization.

The province of Khuzestan lies southwest of Iran and is bounded by Iraq on the west and Persian Gulf in the south. The climate of Khuzestan is generally hot and occasionally humid. It is located on the shores of the Persian Gulf and is considered the center of Iran's oil and gas production. The area of Khuzestan province is 64,057 square kilometers and has an equivalent population 4,936,000.

Nature of Khuzestan

1-Dez dam Lake
Dezful is one of the historical and ancient Iranian cities located in Khuzestan province. This lake is called one of the most beautiful lakes in Iran and is located 15 km north of Dezful. Many locals love this lake because of water sports such as boating, skiing, swimming. Others spend their day by the picnic water by the clear water of this lake. Others can sit in a corner and enjoy fishing.



2- Shushtar Historical Hydraulic System
The Achaemenids have left amazing monuments and monuments for the Iranians in the history of their rule. But some structures, in addition to beauty and splendor, are famous for their engineering and calculated structure that one of them is Shushtar Historical Hydraulic System. The Achaemenids built this structure to make more use of running water. Over time, various sections were added to this brick structure to form the largest water museum in ancient Iran. What is interesting about Shushtar water structures is the completely engineered design of this building. Bridges, dams, mills, canals and water tunnels are all built with the finest mathematical and environmental calculations in the middle of running water to provide the best water supply to the city and the water needed for agricultural lands.



3- Susan plains
Susan plain is one of the most pleasant crossings of Karun river which is divided into eastern and western parts by this huge river. In fact, the passage of the Karun River through the mysterious plain of Susan, has created strange landscapes in this area. In addition to very beautiful nature, Susan plain has valuable historical monuments, such as ancient hills, bridges, etc.

 


Nightlife of Khuzestan

1-Lashgar abad st
This is a street street known for its delicious and unique falafels (a kind of sandwich). Lashgarabad falafel shops are almost always crowded and people from all walks of life choose this place to spend their leisure time. In addition to falafel, other sandwiches with a variety of sauces, pickles and side dishes, there are other sweets and snacks to eat and enjoy.



2- Karun river
Karun River is the largest river in Iran, which has suitable conditions for maritime transport due to its connection with international waters and the open oceans. Ahvaz, with 10 very famous bridges on the Karun River, has the largest number of bridges built on inland rivers in the Middle East.  When night falls, Ahvaz seems to wake up fresh and take on a new life. People who had fled the streets in the heat of the day come to Karun and start spending the night by the river. Do not miss this experience and create unforgettable memories by walking at night on the coastal road of Karun River and listening to the sound of water.


People & culture

Ahwaz has a mixture of Persians, Arabic-speaking people and Bakhtiyari Lors. Most of them speak Persians and their own ethnic language. Khuzestani folklore music is colorful and festive and each native group has its own rich tradition. Seafood is the most important part of Khuzestan’s cuisine, but many other dishes are featured.
