Ardabil

Ardabil , The origin of the formation of the Safavid period. Ardabil is one of the metropolises of Iran in the northwest of the country. it has an area equivalent to 17951.4 square kilometers with population around 568,000.

This province, as one of the coldest regions of Iran, is usually very cold in 5 or even 8 months of the year. There is rainfall in this province in all seasons, but the intensity of this rainfall is more in spring and autumn. Ardabil is an ancient and cold city with an ancient civilization. The city has unlimited capacities in attracting domestic and foreign tourists that the weather, delicious local food, folk customs and old markets in this city, among other sights, have added to the attractiveness of traveling to Ardabil.

Nature of Ardabil

1-Meshginshahr suspension bridge
Meshgin suspension bridge in Ardabil is one of the highest and largest cable-stayed bridges in the Middle East. It is a sidewalk suspension bridge. While crossing this suspension bridge, you will pass over a pristine and wooded area and a deep beautiful valley, at the bottom of Chai River flows.



2-Yakhgan Ice cave
Yakhkan Cave in Ardabil Province is one of the best and most pristine areas that you can visit. this cave is also world famous for its unique features. The air inside the cave is warm in winter and cold in summer, and by forming ice crystals in the form of chandeliers and thin sheets on the surface of the cave walls and roof, it gives a distinctive feature to the ice cave. The space inside the cave is also warm in winter, which is used for the temporary rest of the shepherds.



3-Dasht-e- Moghan
The beautiful nature of the north and west of Iran is like a perfect picture of nature which is amazingly soothing. This area is famous for agriculture due to the plains and heavy rainfall, as well as the very suitable climate. If you need a beautiful place for getting rest and relax, do not miss this plain.


4-Neor Lake
Neor lake, a lost paradise near the road from Asalem to Khalkhal.  This Lake, which is the largest natural and freshwater lake in Ardabil province has an excellent view. A plain covered with anemone flowers and wild tulips, leading to two clear lakes behind the Talesh Mountains.

Shekh Safi Ardebili Temple
Sheikh Safi-ad-Din Ardabili complex is a world heritage site comprising of a mausoleums of Shekh Safi and shah Ismaeil I, Chini khaneh(house of chinaware), a mosque, Jannat khaneh(paradise), Khanqah(the house of dervishes), Cheragh khaneh(the house of lamps) etc...
At night this complex is awake and visitors can enjoy the beautiful lights at night.

 

People & Culture

Shahsavands are part of Iran’s Turks nomadic tribe and clans. Shahan’s summer area consist of Ahar and Meshkin shahr mountains and surrounding area, and their winter area is eastern part of shallow valley (near the Aras river).
